Nightstand cup holder, coaster, tray, or shelf?

Choose by the job: wider drink support, moisture protection, grouped storage, or a new bedside surface. These solve different problems.

01

Steadi drink holder

Fits around a compatible container and widens its base. Uses 5.2 inches of tabletop. It does not anchor the drink or act as a waterproof coaster.

02

Coaster

Choose a coaster appropriate to your furniture when condensation and water rings are the concern. It does not grip the container just because it sits underneath it.

03

Tray

Useful for grouping a drink and other items or containing small spills if its design permits. Check the usable flat area, rim, stability, and furniture care.

04

Bedside shelf

Adds a place to set things when no tabletop is available. Installation, bed-frame compatibility, load limits, and drink-holder dimensions vary by model.

Which one would we choose?

  • A glass that gets nudged on a roomy table: consider Steadi after checking drink fit and placement.
  • A ring left by a cold glass: prioritize suitable moisture protection.
  • Lots of little items drifting around: a tray or drawer organization may solve more.
  • No nightstand at all: start with a stable surface, such as a compatible shelf.
  • A spill would reach electronics: move the drink or use an appropriate closed container; a wider base is not a seal.

A real shelf example

The BedShelfie DormEssential is a bedside shelf with a cup-holder feature. It addresses adding bedside storage; Steadi addresses a compatible drink on an existing supported surface. Check the manufacturer’s current dimensions and mounting requirements for your own bed.

Can you combine a holder and a coaster?

A layer underneath changes how the holder rests. It needs to be flat, steady, large enough for the full footprint, and suitable for the furniture. We have not established performance for every coaster-and-holder combination. Avoid a small coaster that leaves the broad base unsupported.
